https://timeoftheworld.date/wiki/20_Trailblazers_Leading_The_Way_In_Treatment_For_Adult_ADD Treatments For ADHD in Adults The same methods that work for children help adults manage their ADHD symptoms. These treatments include therapy, medication and a variety of coaching techniques and coping mechanisms. Methylphenidate (MPH) is the most frequently used medication for treating adult ADHD. This class of medications helps by increasing activity in specific areas of the brain that regulate behavior and attention. Stimulant Medication The cornerstone of ADHD treatment is the use of stimulant medications. There are a myriad of drugs however they all work by boosting the levels of two neurotransmitter substances in your brain (dopamine and norepinephrine). This boost increases your concentration, reduces impulsivity and decreases fatigue. These drugs can be found in many forms, such as capsules, tablets and liquids. They are also available in various dosages. Your doctor will decide on the most effective dose and schedule. Some people might have difficulty remembering to take their medication, especially if they take short-acting medications or they have a busy life. Most adults who get treated for ADHD see improvements in their attention, mood and self-esteem after treatment. However, there is still plenty to be done to assist those with ADHD live healthy, productive lives. They may have a difficult time trying to keep their work, school or home environments in order. They might also have difficulty coping with daily frustrations. These issues can lead to a loss of self-esteem and relationship problems and poor job performance. Despite taking the appropriate medication, many people with ADHD continue to perform below the standards for their age as well as their intelligence and education. This can have serious long-term consequences. Adults suffering from ADHD treated with a combination of medication and behavior therapy have a greater chance of improving their symptoms
