Diabetes mellitus affects more than a quarter of patients with thalassemia major (TM) worldwide, and increases the risk for cardiac complications, contributing to significant morbidity. Pancreatic iron overload (IO) and fat infiltration have been correlated with this endocrinal complication in adult TM patients. It has been shown that in adult TM patients, iron accumulation and fat infiltration are found to be heterogeneous in the pancreatic head, body, and tail region. R2* and a fat fraction (FF) generated by gradient-echo imaging can be used as quantitative parameters to assess the iron and fat contents of the pancreas. This study aimed to determine the pattern of pancreatic iron accumulation and fat infiltration in pediatric TM patients with gradient-echo imaging and evaluate the association between pancreatic IO and fat infiltration and glucose disturbances. A total of 90 children with TM (10.7±3.1 years) were included. Paravalvular leak (PVL) is one of the most common complications of transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) and affects short- and long-term outcomes. The aim of this study was to identify the computed tomography (CT) imaging biomarkers that allow PVL after TAVR to be predicted. Patients were included who had severe aortic valve stenosis, had undergone TAVR with a self-expanding valve, and had undergone a pre-procedural CT scan. Data on baseline characteristics, procedural and long-term outcomes were collected retrospectively. We used MATLAB software with a self-developed algorithm for CT scan analysis and found parameters that quantified aortic valve calcifications (AVC) in detail. Fifty patients were included. A nomogram for the preoperative diagnosis of lymph node metastasis in patients with resectable ESCC has been previously developed. However, to the best of our knowledge, no reports focus on developing CT radiomics features to discriminate ESCC patients with regional lymph node metastasis (RLNM) and non-regional lymph node metastasis (NRLNM). We, therefore, aimed to develop CT radiomics models to predict lymph node metastasis (LNM) in advanced ESCC and to discriminate ESCC between RLNM and NRLNM. This study enrolled 334 patients with pathologically confirmed advanced ESCC, including 152 patients without LNM and 182 patients with LNM, and 103 patients with RLNM and 79 patients NRLNM.
