Lack of Focus Untreated ADHD can result in a person having more problems than they can manage. For instance, they may not keep track of expenses or forget important meetings with their boss or other important people. They might also be unable to attend social events due to their difficult time making and keeping plans. Furthermore, those who are not treated for ADHD may also have issues with work or school performance, particularly when they suffer from co-occurring disorders such as anxiety and depression. Their negative emotions may be exacerbated by their struggles at work or at home. The result is an unending cycle of mood swings and poor performance that can be difficult to overcome. Another problem that is often encountered is impulsivity and trouble controlling emotions. When a person with ADHD struggles to control their emotions, they may have more trouble settling disputes or experience more frustration than other people. They may also react or act on impulses in illegal or dangerous ways. They could be more susceptible to addictions, ranging from drug abuse to eating disorder and could have higher rates of traffic violations and car accidents than the average.
