The stomach is the most common site of gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs), representing 60% to 70% of all GIST tumors of the gastrointestinal tract. Gastric GISTs are usually asymptomatic discovered incidentally during endoscopic or radiological investigations. A small percentage may present with melena, hematemesis, and anemia due to recurrent bleeding. We report a case of a giant gastric GIST presented with anemia, that successfully treated with laparoscopic resection.Patients with septic arthritis are observed regularly in daily hospital practice, and most patients have a clearly confirmed diagnosis. Here, we present a patient with poorly controlled diabetes mellitus in silent septic shock. Following careful clinical examination and identification of the infection source, the culprit lesion was drained. This case report highlights a history of falls as a sign of silent septic arthritis. Diagnostic knee taps should be performed when silent sepsis is suspected as clinical symptoms may be masked and not always be discernable in patients with poorly controlled diabetes.Primary tumors of the appendix, specifically appendicular adenocarcinoma, are a rare malignant neoplasm of the gastrointestinal tract. We present a case of a 64-year-old female who had significant peritoneal adhesions from a previously perforated appendix involving the right ureter, bladder, and anterior abdominal wall after a course of perforated appendicitis, which was managed conservatively with drain placement with interval appendectomy. We are discussing this case in hopes of bringing awareness to the possibility of underlying malignancy in the setting of perforated appendicitis in patients of advanced age. Pulmonary vascular resistance (PVR) is a measurement obtained with invasive right heart catheterization (RHC) that is commonly used for management of patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). Computed tomography pulmonary angiography (CTPA) is also done as part of the workup for PAH in some cases. The aim of our study was to assess the correlation of contrast dynamic changes in the main pulmonary artery (MPA) on CTPA with PVR obtained with RHC. This is an IRB-approved retrospective study performed in two separate institutions (Medical College of Wisconsin and University of Alabama) between January 2010 and December 2013. During CTPA done as test bolus, serial images are acquired at the level of MPA after intravenous injection of contrast to determine timing of the CT acquisition. Since the PVR changes with the degree of PAH, we hypothesize that will be reflected in the contrast kinetics in MPA. A correlation of standard CT metrics (MPA diameter, right pulmonary artery [PA] diameter, left PA diameter, MPA/aorta ratio, and right ventricle/left ventricle [RV/LV] ratio) and dynamic (full width at half maximum) CTPA parameters in patients with known PAH was performed with PVR obtained from RHC done within 30 days. Statistical analysis was performed by Pearson correlation coefficient. Among 221 patients in our database, 37 patients fulfilled the selection criteria. There was a strong correlation between full width half maximum (FWHM) and mean pulmonary artery pressure (mPAP) (r=0.69, p value<0.00001), PVR (r=0.8, p value<0.00001) and indexed PVR (PVRI) (r=0.75, p value<0.00001). FWHM obtained from CTPA strongly correlates with RHC parameters and is potentially more helpful than static measurements for follow-up of patients with known PAH to assess response to treatment or progression. One of the common side effects of statin use is myopathy. We report a case of statin-induced autoimmune myopathy, which is a variant of statin-induced myopathy. A 56-year-old female with a history of hypertension, hyperlipidemia, cerebral aneurysm status post clipping, and seizure disorder presented with progressive muscle weakness. Her initial laboratory results demonstrated an elevated creatine phosphokinase (CPK) of 17,144 IU/L. The patient's atorvastatin was discontinued and she was placed on high-rate intravenous fluids; however, despite this, her CPK remained elevated. Patient underwent further blood testing for specific autoimmune etiologies. As there was high concern for autoimmune myositis, she was started on high-dose steroids. Anti-3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-coenzyme A (anti-HMG-CoA) reductase antibody returned strongly positive. While the patient was on steroids, her muscle weakness and CPK level gradually improved. She was discharged on oral steroids. Statin-induced autoimmune myopathy should be considered with high suspicion when there is a significantly elevated CPK level. Discontinuation of statin therapy does not lead to muscle recovery or improvement in the CPK level. Diagnosis is confirmed by positive anti-HMG-CoA reductase autoantibody and a muscle biopsy. Few studies exist on the prevalence ofDESamong young adults in the Eastern Mediterranean region. This study aimed to investigate the prevalence and severity of digital eye strain among a university student population in Jordan. Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted with students enrolled at Al-Ahliyya Amman University in Jordan.
