The results of our work show that we were able to detect known events including weaning, parturition, illness and physical trauma with high accuracy (false negative rate = 3.2%; n = 1), and to time them within an average absolute difference of 0.43 years (R2  = .98; p  less then  .05). Nonetheless, we could not distinguish between the several types of stressful events underlying the changes in cementum microstructure. While this study is the first to identify a variety of life history events in macaque dental cementum, laying foundations for future work in conservation and evolutionary studies of both primates and toothed mammals at large, there are some limitations. However, several putative adhesins have no host binding partner characterised. We report here that surface-expressed β protein of GBS binds to human CEACAM1 and CEACAM5 receptors. A crystal structure of the complex showed that an IgSF domain in β represents a novel Ig-fold subtype called IgI3, in which unique features allow binding to CEACAM1. Therefore, the objectives of this meta-analysis were to determine the mean score of self-transcendence based on place of residence and gender, and to evaluate the correlations of self-transcendence with meaning, sense of coherence, resilience and depression. Based on inclusion criteria, 13 studies were included. Orwin Safe N and Egger's test assessed publication bias. The mean score of self-transcendence and the correlation coefficients of the selected variables were estimated by random effects models. The self-transcendence mean score (n=1634) was low (M=43.6) and a bit lower among those staying in care facilities (M=42.8), but did not vary significantly across gender. The correlation coefficients were self-transcendence_depression (r=-0.40), self-transcendence_meaning-in-life (r=0.53), self-transcendence_resilience (r=0.50) and self-transcendence_sense of coherence (r=0.28). The correlation coefficients, except for meaning-in-life, were homogeneous. These aptamers targeted NB4 cells were selected from a random single-stranded DNA (ssDNA) library of systematic evolution of ligands by exponential enrichment (CELL-SELEX). The binding rate of FITC-ssDNA library and NB4 cells was monitored using flow cytometry and fluorescence microscope. After cloned and sequenced, the structure, specificity, and affinity of these candidate aptamers were further analyzed. After a total of 19 rounds of selection, the ssDNA library was enriched and the BR (19.9%) of the 16th round was 12 times of the first round (1.6%). Three enriched aptamers were obtained from 21 positive clones of the 16th round, and the predicted secondary structures of these aptamers were mainly stem-loop. The aptamer CX9 had the highest affinity, and the equilibrium dissociation constant (Kd) was 16.2 nM. The fluorescence intensity of CX9 binding to NB4 cells was stronger than HL60 and K562 cells under fluorescence microscopy. The study indicates that aptamer CX9 exhibits high affinity and specificity with NB4 cells and lay a foundation for the rapid diagnostic method to detect APL with fluorescence-labeled aptamer. The logging industry is known to have one of the highest rates of fatal and nonfatal occupational injuries in the United States. Perspectives on why this study is so hazardous may differ between logging company owners/operators and workers. In this study, we explored and compared the safety perspectives of logging company owners/operators and workers in West Virginia. Using a mixed-methods approach, we analyzed survey (n = 245) and interview (n = 14) data collected in 2015 from logging company owners/operators and workers in West Virginia. Survey data were analyzed via logistic regression; interview data were analyzed using thematic analysis. Response patterns were contrasted by occupational status (owners/operators vs. workers) in both analyses. Owners/operators and workers agreed on several aspects of workplace safety including the importance of personal protective equipment and the benefits of mechanization when timber harvesting. Key differences observed between owners/operators and workers included why injuries are underreported and the effects of production pressures on safety.
