MB 829049).For many smallholder farmers of Sub-Saharan Africa, pigeonpea (Cajanus cajan) is an important crop to make ends meet. To ascertain the taxonomic status of pigeonpea isolates of Côte d'Ivoire previously identified as bradyrhizobia, a polyphasic approach was applied to strains CI-1BT, CI-14A, CI-19D and CI-41S. Phylogeny of 16S ribosomal RNA (rRNA) genes placed these nodule isolates in a separate lineage from current species of the B. elkanii super clade. In phylogenetic analyses of single and concatenated partial dnaK, glnII, gyrB, recA and rpoB sequences, the C. cajan isolates again formed a separate lineage, with strain CI-1BT sharing the highest sequence similarity (95.2 %) with B. tropiciagri SEMIA 6148T. Comparative genomic analyses corroborated the novel species status, with 86 % ANIb and 89 % ANIm as the highest average nucleotide identity (ANI) values with B. elkanii USDA 76T. Although CI-1BT, CI-14A, CI-19D and CI-41S shared similar phenotypic and metabolic properties, growth of CI-41S was slower in/on various media. Symbiotic efficacy varied significantly between isolates, with CI-1BT and CI-41S scoring on the C. cajan 'Light-Brown' landrace as the most and least proficient bacteria, respectively. Also proficient on Vigna radiata (mung bean), Vigna unguiculata (cowpea, niébé) and additional C. cajan cultivars, CI-1BT represents a potential bioinoculant adapted to local soil conditions and capable of fostering the growth of diverse legume crops in Côte d'Ivoire. Given the data presented here, we propose the 19 C. cajan isolates to belong to a novel species called Bradyrhizobium ivorense sp. nov., with CI-1BT (=CCOS 1862T=CCMM B1296T) as a type strain.A strain of obligately anaerobic, spore-forming, Gram-positive rods was isolated from child faeces and characterized both phenotypically and genotypically. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene and whole genome sequencing revealed the strain to represent a member of the family Ruminococcaceae distant from described species and genera. The strain was moderately saccharolytic with mannose as the preferred substrate and produced lactic acid, acetic acid and H2 as the end products. The major cellular long-chain fatty acids were C16  0 and C16  0 aldehyde. The genomic DNA G+C content was 52.3 mol%. On the basis of chemotaxonomic and genomic properties it was concluded that the strain represents a novel species in a new genus within the family Ruminococcaceae, for which the name Hydrogeniiclostidium mannosilyticum gen. nov., sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain of Hydrogeniiclostidium mannosilyticum is ASD2818T (=VKM B-3268T=JCM 33295T).Background Our study aimed to investigate the incidence of depression in 387 patients with asthma. Methods The Zung self-rating depression scale and the Hamilton depression scale were used to evaluate the depression status in patients with asthma. Results Results of logistic regression analysis indicated that, severity of asthma symptoms, taking medicine, frequency of asthma onset, and lack of education were the major risk factors for depression in patients with asthma. Conclusion Depression is a complication with high morbidity in patients with asthma. It largely affects disease control of asthma and the quality life in patients. Multiple factors are relevant for depression in the patient with asthma. This study provided a comprehensive horizon for clinical management and treatment of depression in patients with asthma.Background Proton-pump inhibitors (PPI) are one of the most commonly prescribed drugs, and they are generally well tolerated. However, several immediate and delayed hypersensitivity reactions due to PPIs have been reported. Objective To review the clinical characteristics and management of immune-mediated immediate and delayed hypersensitivity reactions to PPIs. Methods We performed a search of a medical literature data base from January 1980 to October 2019 by using keywords that included "proton-pump inhibitors" and "hypersensitivity." Results Anaphylaxis is the most-common clinical presentation in patients with immediate hypersensitivity reactions to PPIs, followed by urticaria and/or angioedema. Occupational contact dermatitis, maculopapular eruption, fixed drug eruption, symmetrical drug-related intertriginous and flexural exanthema, and severe cutaneous adverse reactions, such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, drug rash with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms, and acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis have also been reported with PPIs. Conclusion The current knowledge and severity of the reported reactions indicated the importance of consideration of a causal relationship between hypersensitivity reactions and PPIs, and awareness of the existence of cross-reactivity among PPIs.The newborn screen for severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID) uses real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction for T-cell receptor excision circles and is highly sensitive for SCID. However, T-cell lymphopenia from other primary and secondary causes, such as DiGeorge syndrome, prematurity, thymic involution from stress, and thymectomy during cardiac surgery, is also detected. We present a newborn girl with T-cell lymphopenia of unknown etiology detected via abnormal newborn screen.Background Pediatric asthma is a prevalent disease and has a significant immunologic and inflammatory nature. In recent years, the role of vitamin D₃ in immunologic processes has been studied, and many aspects of this role have been clarified in some human diseases. Objective The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship among the vitamin D₃ status, Pediatric Asthma Severity Score (PASS), and inflammatory indicators of pediatric asthma. Methods Among all of the pediatric patients with asthma and with asthma exacerbation, 100 patients were randomly enrolled in the study and subdivided into three groups according to serum levels of 25-OH vitamin D₃. The control group consisted of 100 sex- and age-matched healthy subjects. Asthma exacerbation severity was evaluated based on the PASS before starting the medical care. The count of the white blood cells, eosinophil count, and serum levels of total immunoglobulin E (IgE) plus 25-OH vitamin D₃ were measured in all the subjects. The obtained data were then compared via proper statistical tests.
