Aim Gastrointestinal stromal tumor management is extremely challenging, particularly the metastatic disease. The underlying mechanism in metastasis spread remains largely unknown. We aimed to characterize miRNAs involved in the metastatic process in gastrointestinal stromal tumor. Material & methods Eight primary tumors and 18 synchronous metastases were analyzed through miRNA Taqman arrays or assays. Results miRNAs profiles revealed similar expression in primary site and metastases. Pair-wise correlation coefficient between primary tumor and metastases was significant for each patient (p less then 0.0001 for all profiled patients). Conclusion Our study, the largest including primary tumors and metastases so far performed, highlighted perpetuation of miRNAs features in metastatic lesions and that the primary origin appears to be the main determinant of the metastases miRNA profile.Background ECG abnormalities are associated with adverse outcomes in the general population, but their prognostic significance in severe mental illness (SMI) remains unexplored. We investigated associations between no, minor, and major ECG abnormalities and fatal cardiovascular disease (CVD) among patients with SMI compared with controls without mental illness. Methods and Results We cross-linked data from Danish nationwide registries and included primary care patients with digital ECGs from 2001 to 2015. Patients had SMI if they were diagnosed with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, or severe depression before ECG recording. Controls were required to be without any prior mental illness or psychotropic medication use. Fatal CVD was assessed using hazard ratios (HRs) with 95% CIs and standardized 10-year absolute risks. Of 346 552 patients, 10 028 had SMI (3%; median age, 54 years; male, 45%), and 336 524 were controls (97%; median age, 56 years; male, 48%). We observed an interaction between SMI and ECG abnormalities on fatal CVD (P less then 0.001). Severe mental illness was associated with fatal CVD across no (HR, 2.17; 95% CI, 1.95-2.43), minor (HR, 1.90; 95% CI, 1.49-2.42), and major (HR, 1.40; 95% CI, 1.26-1.55) ECG abnormalities compared with controls. Across age- and sex-specific subgroups, SMI patients with ECG abnormalities but no CVD at baseline had highest standardized 10-year absolute risks of fatal CVD. Conclusions ECG abnormalities conferred a poorer prognosis among patients with SMI compared with controls without mental illness. SMI patients with ECG abnormalities but no CVD represent a high-risk population that may benefit from greater surveillance and risk management.Although several epidemiological studies have investigated associations between poultry and fish consumption and pancreatic cancer (PC) risk, these findings have been inconsistent. The present study aimed to perform a meta-analysis to comprehensively evaluate these associations. We retrieved Eligible cohort studies and case-control studies published before February 2020 from the Medline, EMBASE, and Cochrane Library and applied a random or fixed effects model to calculate the pooled relative risk (RR) and the corresponding 95% confidence intervals (CI). Publication bias was detected using funnel plots, Begg's test, and Egger's test, and the study quality was evaluated using the Newcastle-Ottawa scale. We included 25 studies in the analyses. The pooled RR of PC for the highest vs. lowest poultry intake category was 1.14 (95% CI 1.02-1.26) in cohort studies. Using an index date of April 18, 2018, we evaluated the proportion of patients with a prescription claim for any of the 3 evidence-based therapies on, or covering, the index date ±30 days high-intensity statin, angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor or angiotensin receptor blocker, and sodium glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitor or glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist. Few investigated other services or utilization patterns. Our aim was to study service utilization patterns and predictors among patients with ACHD. Methods and Results We identified 11 653 patients with ACHD aged ≥18 years (median, 47 years), through electronic records of 2 large Israeli healthcare providers (2007-2011). The association between patient, disease, and sociogeographic characteristics and healthcare resource utilization were modeled as recurrent events accounting for the competing death risk. Patients with ACHD had high healthcare utilization rates compared with the general population. The highest standardized service utilization ratios (SSRs) were found among patients with complex congenital heart disease including primary care visits (SSR, 1.53; 95% CI, 1.47-1.58), cardiology outpatient visits (SSR, 5.17; 95% CI, 4.69-5.64), hospitalizations (SSR, 6.68; 95% CI, 5.82-7.54), and days in hospital (SSR, 15.
