All P. litorale isolates were homothallic, developing gametangia, ornamented oogonia with elongate to lobate antheridia. Pathogenicity of P. litorale was tested by inoculation on excised shoots and by root inoculation on seedlings. P. litorale produced large lesions and blights on shoots in just 5 days and killed 100% of the seedlings in a month. This paper presents the first confirmed report of P. litorale as an important pathogen on a plant species causing branch and stem cankers, and root and collar rot, in and on P. orientalis, resulting in a rapid decline of trees and suggesting a threat to plane.Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. mori, the causal agent of Fusarium wilt of blackberry, was first reported in California and Mexico in 2016. A limited survey of the population revealed this pathogen to be one of the most diverse formae speciales of F. oxysporum. We explored the possibility that strains of F. oxysporum pathogenic to commercial blackberry could also be recovered from wild blackberry (Rubus spp.) in California. For this purpose, wild Rubus species in blackberry nurseries, fruit production fields, and nearby areas were collected between 2017 and 2019. Thirty-four isolates of F. oxysporum were recovered from asymptomatic Rubus armeniacus and Rubus ursinus plants. Based on sequence of the translation elongation factor 1-α, somatic compatibility, and pathogenicity to blackberry, 16 isolates were confirmed as F. oxysporum f. sp. mori. These isolates were associated with three somatic compatibility groups, one of which was first identified in this study. Recovery of the pathogen confirmed that wild blackberry plants can act as a reservoir of inoculum of F. oxysporum f. sp. mori and that it can move from wild blackberry plants to commercial cultivars or vice versa. Malignant Pleural Mesothelioma (MPM) has a poor prognosis and high symptom burden. RESPECT-Meso was a multicenter randomized study examining the role of early specialist palliative care (SPC) on quality of life (QoL) with MPM. This is a post-hoc exploratory analysis of the symptom burden and unmet needs identified from RESPECT-Meso participants. Exploratory analysis from 174 participants using the General Health Status (GHS) measure (from the EORTC QLQ-C30 QoL questionnaire) and 87 participants using validated assessment questionnaires in those randomized to SPC. Eligibility for the study included confirmed MPM with diagnosis <6 weeks prior, performance score (PS) 0 or 1, no significant physical or psychological comorbidity. Cox proportional hazards models were derived to examine for relationships with survival. Free text was assessed using content analysis, looking for common themes and words. Participants were predominantly male (79.9%), mean age 72.8 years, PS was 0 in 38%, 78% of MPM was epitheliod baseline performance status. A worse QoL is associated with a worse survival. Unmet needs are common, perhaps highlighting a need for improved communication and information sharing.The present study attempts to identify how trait anxiety, measured as worry-level, affects the processing of threatening speech. Two experiments using dichotic listening tasks were implemented; where participants had to identify sentences that convey threat through three different information channels prosody-only, semantic-only and both semantic and prosody (congruent threat). We expected different ear advantages (left or right) depending on task demands, information type, and worry level. We used a full Bayesian approach for statistical modelling and analysis. Main results indicate that as worry-level increases, participants' reaction times increase. We explain this effect by proposing a fourth stage, associated with goal-oriented deliberation, for a three-phasic multistep model of emotional language processing. Higher levels of trait anxiety could induce verbal repetitive thinking (i.e. worry and/or rumination), which might prolong the mentioned deliberation stages, thus slowing down responses. Insertion of conduits from the right ventricle (RV) to the pulmonary artery (PA) is a commonly used technique for repair of congenital heart defects. The vast majority of infants and children will require reoperation and/or re-intervention to replace the conduit. Some children may require multiple reoperations, with the risk of death and morbidity increasing significantly with each subsequent operation. We evaluated the feasibility and performance of a relatively novel anisotropic conduit for cardiovascular repair in the growing lamb model. Lambs were allocated into a control (  = 3) or test (  = 4, anisotropic) conduit group. Control conventional polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) conduits or test anisotropic expanded PTFE (ePTFE) based test conduits measuring 10-11 mm in diameter were sewn as interpositional grafts in the main pulmonary artery (MPA) and followed up to 6 months. Clinical and echocardiographic evaluations were performed monthly with hemodynamic and angiographic assessment at 3 and 6 months. Control conduits did not expand, all 3 animals developed one or more adverse events including tachypnea, ascites, inappetence, lethargy, and mortality due to severe right heart failure and significantly higher peak trans-conduit gradients (48.5 ± 5.1 p = 0.02). The test conduits spontaneously expanded up to 14.8 ± 0.8 mm in diameter, no adverse events were observed in any animals and trans-conduit gradients were significantly lower (27.0 ± 8.3, p = 0.02). Anisotropic ePTFE conduits can be safely implanted in growing lambs with stable hemodynamics. To systematically review the evidence on whether having current, ever asthma and asthma control is associated with levels of total, moderate and vigorous physical activity. A total of 25 studies were included, with 18 of these included in meta-analyses.
