Here, we test the hypothesis that GC-C agonism reverses stress-induced colonic hypersensitivity via inhibition of nociceptive afferent signaling resulting in normalization of stress-altered corticotropin-releasing factor (CRF) expression in brain regions involved in pain perception and modulation.
