3%±3.7% at 24 months. 3 stent fractures were noted, none were symptomatic. Mean quality of life (EQ5D-3L) was significantly improved at 24 months (71.2 ±20.3 vs. 52.4 ±22.6, p=0.001). Conclusions Our results showed that primary bare metal stenting for iliac CTO is safe and efficient at 24 months and could be considered as a first-line strategy.Prediction of subject age from brain anatomical MRI has the potential to provide a sensitive summary of brain changes, indicative of different neurodegenerative diseases. However, existing studies typically neglect the uncertainty of these predictions. In this work we take into account this uncertainty by applying methods of functional data analysis. We propose a penalised functional quantile regression model of age on brain structure with cognitively normal (CN) subjects in the Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI), and use it to predict brain age in Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) and Alzheimer's Disease (AD) subjects. Unlike the machine learning approaches available in the literature of brain age prediction, which provide only point predictions, the outcome of our model is a prediction interval for each subject.Dealing with confounds is an essential step in large cohort studies to address problems such as unexplained variance and spurious correlations. UK Biobank is a powerful resource for studying associations between imaging and non-imaging measures such as lifestyle factors and health outcomes, in part because of the large subject numbers. However, the resulting high statistical power also raises the sensitivity to confound effects, which therefore have to be carefully considered. In this work we describe a set of possible confounds (including non-linear effects and interactions that researchers may wish to consider for their studies using such data). We include descriptions of how we can estimate the confounds, and study the extent to which each of these confounds affects the data, and the spurious correlations that may arise if they are not controlled. In the present study, a composite of natural sepiolite clay and synthetic graphitic carbon nitride (CN) mixed with dispersed palladium nanoparticles was developed for the efficient photocatalytic degradation of ciprofloxacin (CIP) under visible light irradiation. The sepiolite, CN, and composite materials were characterized by several techniques. The sepiolite/CN composite (SC30%) displayed superior activity than pristine sepiolite and CN, resulted from the generation of new electron trap states in the interfacial contract between sepiolite and CN to suppress the charge recombination of CN. Furthermore, the well-dispersed of 1 wt% Pd-nanoparticles in the SC30% composite collectively enhanced CIP degradation by avoiding the recombination of photogenerated electrons and holes. Additionally, the electron trap states on the surface of all samples were studied using novel reversed double-beam photoacoustic spectroscopy to understand electron transfer in the composites related to the photocatalytic degradation mechanism of CIP. The developed sepiolite/CN/Pd(0) composite can act as a potential catalyst for the degradation of organic pollutants in wastewater under visible light irradiation.Introduction Acinetobacter baumannii has emerged as an important nosocomial pathogen worldwide. In Thailand, the incidence and mortality rate of carbapenem-resistant A. baumannii (CRAB) is continuously increased. This organism is a common pathogen that can cause HAP and VAP. CRAB tends to be susceptible to only colistin, so colistin would be the last line of treatment for CRAB. The recent data from in-vitro studies found that colistin and meropenem combination therapy could exert synergistic effect. However, some in-vivo study have shown no significant difference in antibacterial effect between colistin monotherapy and colistin plus meropenem. Moreover, the clinical data are recently limited and not clear. Thus, the objective of this study was to compare clinical outcome, microbiological response, mortality rate and nephrotoxicity between loading dose (LD) colistin monotherapy and LD colistin-meropenem for treatment of infection caused by CRAB in Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital. Materials and methods This LD colistin plus meropenem could eradicate pathogen 1.28 times more than LD colistin monotherapy (95% CI=0.74-2.20, p=0.371). Also there was no significant difference in nephrotoxicity (adjusted OR=0.84, 95% CI 0.52-1.36, p=0.492) between LD colistin monotherapy and LD colistin plus meropenem. Conclusion There were no significant differences in effectiveness and nephrotoxicity of LD colistin monotherapy versus LD colistin plus meropenem for treatment of CRAB infection, so that colistin combination therapy was not necessary for the management of infection caused by CRAB.
