Conclusions The current study provides exploratory evidence for features of text complexity affecting the type of comprehension processes middle school readers generate while reading science texts. Accordingly, science classroom texts and materials can be evaluated for word, sentence, and passage features of text complexity in order to encourage deep level comprehension of middle school readers.Purpose The purpose of this clinical focus article is to provide a descriptive case study of a late-adopted, bilingual adolescent with cleft palate speech errors. Specifically, we examined the cross-linguistic generalization of remediated compensatory cleft errors, following treatment in English (second language) only. The overarching goal of this study is to gain insights into the complexity of speech intervention for the adopted population with delayed cleft palate repair. Method A 14-year-old female adopted from China with a repaired unilateral cleft lip and palate and maladaptive articulation errors underwent 55 one-hour sessions of a motor-based, speech therapy approach over a 15-month span, targeting English phonemes only. Results PCC in English improved from 60% in single words and 35% in sentences pretreatment to 100% in single words and sentences during posttreatment assessment. Without direct treatment in Mandarin, PCC in Mandarin improved from 56% in single words and 50% in sentences pretreatment to 100% in single words and 99% in sentences during posttreatment assessment. To describe the anatomy of the transverse cervical artery and to prove its perfusion to the clavicle using indocyanine green fluorescence angiography as an alternative vascularized bone for head and neck reconstruction. The transverse cervical artery originated from the thyrocervical trunk and emerged at the level of the medial one-third of the clavicle in 22 of 22 (100%) specimens. The average length of the pedicle was 3.6 cm (range, 2.2-4.4 cm), and the mean diameter was 2.5 mm (range, 1.8-3.4 mm). The harvested bone had a mean length of 5.1 cm (range, 4.3-5.8 cm). The objective of this study was to determine if there is a difference in survival after radical cystectomy for de novo cases compared to progressors. This retrospective, population-based study reports on all patients who underwent radical cystectomy in Ontario utilizing records linked to the Ontario Cancer Registry. Microhardness, surface roughness with optical profilometer and AFM measurements of all the samples were taken. Qualitative surface topographic evaluations were made using a SEM. The data were analyzed by Kruskal-Wallis and Mann Whitney -test for pairwise comparisons of the groups at the 0.05 level of significance. The addition of chitosan to GIC had a positive effect on the microhardness values. The gastric acid erosive cycle application negatively affected the microhardness and surface roughness properties of the sample groups.
