This scoping review describes current guidelines for the dietary management of pediatric obesity and severe obesity. Guidelines were identified via electronic searches of six databases, grey literature, and reference lists and included international clinical practice guidelines (n = 21), position papers (n = 5), and scientific/consensus statements (n = 2) produced by professional bodies and/or expert panels. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/dmog.html All recommend multicomponent lifestyle interventions including diet, physical activity, and behavior modification as first-line treatment. Most guidelines (n = 21) recommend weight loss as a treatment goal for children and adolescents with obesity and associated comorbidities or severe obesity; 15 recommend using dietary approaches. Fourteen of 28 guidelines refer to the management of severe obesity, 10 refer to dietary approaches, and seven recommend using intensive dietary approaches. Dietary approaches to weight loss focus on caloric restriction (n = 14) with some guidelines recommending very low-energy diet (n = 4), protein-sparing modified fast (n = 2), and very low-carbohydrate/ketogenic diets (n = 2). A stronger evidence base is required for dietary management of pediatric obesity and severe obesity to improve consistency in future guidelines. Guidance on the use of dietary approaches, beyond caloric restriction, and in line with the growing evidence base on novel dietary approaches is required to facilitate personalized care and optimal patient outcomes.Epicardial adipose tissue (EAT) and pericardial adipose tissue (PAT) are metabolically active fat depots implicated in cardiovascular disease, and EAT has potential as a novel cardiac risk factor, suitable as a target for interventions. The objective of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to investigate the evidence whether EAT and PAT volume can be reduced by weight-loss interventions (exercise, diet, bariatric surgery or pharmaceutical interventions). A systematic literature search identified 34 studies that were included in the qualitative synthesis (exercise, n = 10, diet, n = 5, bariatric surgery, n = 9 and pharmaceutical interventions, n = 10). Of the 34 studies, 10 reported sufficient data to be included in the meta-analysis. The meta-analysis was only conducted for changes in EAT volume, since only few controlled studies reported changes in PAT (n = 3) or total cardiac adipose tissue volume (n = 1). A significant pooled effect size (ES) for reduction in EAT volume was observed following weight-loss interventions as compared with control interventions (ES = -0.89, 95% CI -1.23 to -0.55, P less then 0.001). When comparing the effect of exercise training versus control on EAT volume reduction, there was a significant pooled ES favouring exercise training (ES -1.11, 95% CI -1.57 to -0.65, P less then 0.001). Similarly, the ES of pharmaceutical versus control interventions on EAT volume reduction was significant, favouring pharmaceutical interventions (ES -0.79, 95% CI -1.37 to -0.21, P less then 0.0072). In conclusion, this systematic review and meta-analysis provides evidence that exercise, diet, bariatric surgery and pharmaceutical interventions can reduce cardiac adipose tissue volume.Current international guidelines recommend people living with obesity should be prescribed a minimum of 300 min of moderately intense activity per week for weight loss. However, the most efficacious exercise prescription to improve anthropometry, cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) and metabolic health in this population remains unknown. Thus, this network meta-analysis was conducted to assess and rank comparative efficacy of different exercise interventions on anthropometry, CRF and other metabolic risk factors. Five electronic databases were searched for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) that compared different exercise modalities to improve anthropometry, CRF and/or metabolic health in adults living with obesity. RCTs were evaluated using the Cochrane risk of bias tool. A random effects network meta-analysis was performed within a frequentist framework. Of the 6663 articles retrieved, 45 studies with a total 3566 participants were included. Results reveal that while any type of exercise intervention is more effective than control, weight loss induced is modest. Interventions that combine high-intensity aerobic and high-load resistance training exert beneficial effects that are superior to any other exercise modality at decreasing abdominal adiposity, improving lean body mass and increasing CRF. This study examined the panoramic radiographic images of 1036 patients. Two groups, each consisting of 518 patients, were arranged based on age ranges. The patients aged 12 to 19 years were in the first group and those 20 years and older were in the second group. The frequency of M3 agenesis was examined in both age groups. The distribution of M3 agenesis by sex and jaw was also recorded, along with the number of M3s affected by agenesis. Chi-square tests were used to examine the relationships between categorical variables. M3 agenesis was observed in 29.3% and 20.5% in the first and second groups, respectively; the difference was statistically significant (P < .01).
