The psoas muscle cross-sectional area on the abdominal computed tomography (CT), gait speed, and handgrip strength is used to measure it. However, it is difficult to measure the neurological patients' muscle mass or function because (1) we do not perform abdominal CT. (2) Such patients have impaired consciousness, gait disturbance, paresis, and need of rest. Temporal muscle thickness (TMT) on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is now attractive for skeletal muscle volume indicator, but the reference values are not established. We herein investigated the standard value of the Japanese TMT using the brain check-up database by MRI. We retrospectively investigated 360 Japanese individuals from two institutions between 2017 and 2019. We measured TMT on the T1-weighted images in the previously reported way. The associations between TMT and other variables were analyzed. TMT of 214 women and 146 men, ranging from 35 to 84 years old, was investigated. TMT ranged from 3.69 to 16.90 mm. Mean TMT values were significantly higher in men compared to women except for the over 70-year-old cohort. TMT was correlated to weight and body mass index in both sexes. This is the first retrospective study on the standard TMT values from the Japanese brain check-up database. Our results were just reference values, but these would be useful for further investigation in other neurosurgical and neurological diseases regarding muscle volume or sarcopenia. Children in low-income, urban neighborhoods are at high risk of exposure to violence (ETV) across settings and subsequent posttraumatic stress symptoms (PTSS). Little research has examined how multiple forms of ETV co-occur and relate to variations in children's posttraumatic responses. Furthermore, previous research primarily uses variable-centered methods, which can obscure person-level differences. The current study used person-centered methods to derive commonly occurring patterns of ETV by examining frequency of witnessing and victimization across family, school, and community contexts. The current study related profiles of ETV to demographic variables and PTSS, with the goal of obtaining nuanced representations of urban children's experiences of, risk factors for, and responses to violence. Results showedformed intervention and thorough screenings in low-income, urban neighborhoods.Signet ring cell carcinoma (SRCC) is a rare pathological type of colorectal cancer, of which the clinicopathological features and genetic background have not yet been fully investigated. Previous research has focused on the optimization of colorectal cancer treatment utilizing consensus molecular subtyping (CMS). However, it is not known what type of CMS would be designated to SRCC treatment. In the current study, of 1,350 patients diagnosed with colorectal cancer who underwent surgery, 14 were diagnosed with SRCC. The case-control cohort that fit the clinical background of the SRCC case was constructed. Statistical comparison between the SRCC group and the case-control cohort was performed among clinicopathological variables. SRCC and well to moderately adenocarcinoma case mRNA were submitted to microarray analysis and CMS analysis. Compared with the case-control cohort, the SRCC group was located more in the right-sided colon, the lymphatic invasion was more severe and the peritoneal dissemination was more frequent. The cancer-specific survival and the progression-free survival were significantly worse in the SRCC group compared with the case-control cohort. Microarray and CMS analysis identified that one SRCC case was significantly well assigned in the CMS 4 group and the other case was assigned in the CMS 1 group. Gene set analysis revealed the upregulation of EMT related genes and the downregulation of fatty acid, glycolysis, differentiation, MYC, HNF4A, DNA repair genes.
