In this study, we investigated the anti-neuroinflammatory effect of Hp-s1 on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated microglial cells. MG6 microglial cells were stimulated with LPS in the presence or absence of different Hp-s1 concentrations. The anti-inflammatory effect and underlying mechanism of Hp-s1 in LPS-activated microglia cells were assessed through a Cell Counting kit-8 assay, Western blot analysis, and immunofluorescence. We found that Hp-s1 suppressed not only the expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase and cyclooxygenase-2 but also the expression of proinflammatory cytokines, such as TNF-α, IL-1β, and IL-6. Hp-s1 inhibited the LPS-induced NF-κB signaling pathway by attenuating the phosphorylation and translocation of NF-κB p65 and by disrupting the degradation and phosphorylation of inhibitor κB-α (IκBα). Moreover, Hp-s1 inhibited the LPS-induced phosphorylation of p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) and c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK). Hp-s1 also reduced the expression of myeloid differentiation factor 88 (MyD88) and TNF receptor-associated factors 6 (TRAF6), which are prerequisites for NF-κB and MAPKs activation. These findings indicated that Hp-s1 alleviated LPS-induced proinflammatory responses in microglial cells by downregulating MyD88-mediated NF-κB and JNK/p38 MAPK signaling pathways, suggesting further evaluation as a new anti-neuroinflammatory drug. The study of the Default Mode Network (DMN) has been shown to be sensitive for the recognition of connectivity patterns between the brain areas involved in this network. It has been hypothesized that the connectivity patterns in this network are related to different cognitive states. In this study, we explored the relationship that can be estimated between these functional connectivity patterns of the DMN with the Quality-of-Life levels in people with Down syndrome, since no relevant data has been provided for this population. 22 young people with Down syndrome were evaluated; they were given a large evaluation battery that included the Spanish adaptation of the Personal Outcome Scale (POS). Likewise, fMRI sequences were obtained on a 3T resonator. For each subject, the DMN functional connectivity network was studied by estimating the indicators of complexity networks. The variability obtained in the Down syndrome group was studied by taking into account the Quality-of-Life distribution. There is a negative correlation between the complexity of the connectivity networks and the Quality-of-Life values. The results are interpreted as evidence that, even at rest, connectivity levels are detected as already shown in the community population and that less intense connectivity levels correlate with higher levels of Quality of Life in people with Down syndrome. Increasingly, immobilized microorganisms or enzymes are used in biodegradation systems. This review presents the main sources of endocrine disrupting compounds and identifies the risks associated with their presence in the environment. The main pathways of degradation of these compounds by microorganisms are also presented. The last part is devoted to an overview of the immobilization methods used for the purposes of enabling the use of biocatalysts in environmental bioremediation.Identifying the impact of housing instability on the health status of renters with relatively high economic difficulties is important for the improvement of renters' quality of life and their social security. Accordingly, this study adopted a panel data regression approach to examine the associations between residential instability and perceived health status-including physical and mental health-using 14 waves (2006-2019) of longitudinal data collected by the Korean Welfare Panel Study. The results showed that residential instability significantly affected perceived health status, and renters who experienced residential instability perceived worse health status and had more severe depression than those who did not experience residential instability. Moreover, failure to meet the minimum housing standard worsened depression in renters. Despite assistance benefits from the government, permanent rental housing and the national basic living security were also factors that worsened depression. Dissatisfaction with one's residential environment and social relationships were also associated with increased depression.
