Numerous studies describe correlations between clinical symptoms and audiological and otoneurological examination results with the endolymphatic hydrops grade. MRI is also applicable in patients' diagnostics with an incomplete or atypical course of the Ménière's disease. In the course of the treatment, follow-up MRI scans enable assessing individual treatment modalities' efficacy in terms of the severity of lesions and the further course of the disease within the inner ear.<b>Introduction</b> The aim of the study was to present selected cases with Eagle's syndrome diagnosed and treated at the Department of Otolaryngology, Laryngological Oncology, Audiology and Phoniatrics, Medical University of Lodz, in the years 2016-2020. <br><b>Material and method</b> Five selected clinical cases with Eagle's syndrome are presented, including three male patients and two female patients, aged 28 to 42 years. <br><b>Results</b> The prevalence of Eagle's syndrome was similar for both female and male patients. The carotid artery syndrome, which is characterized by visual disturbances, unilateral pain located along cervical vessels, headache and migraine, was more common. Lack of proper diagnosis of Eagle's syndrome often significantly delays the implementation of proper treatment and thus exposes patients to long-term struggle with pain. Our observations have shown that the time between the onset of symptoms and correct diagnosis in patients averaged about five years. 3D-CT scan is the gold standard for detecting Eagle's syndrome. An intraoral approach was used in surgical treatment. Although this approach offers shorter treatment time and better cosmetic effect, there is also a greater risk of complications associated with limited visibility of the surgical field and infection. <br><b>Conclusions</b> Although styloid syndrome usually occurs bilaterally, these patients reported unilateral symptoms. This pilot study assessed the potency of an existing exergaming tool for the rehabilitation program of patients who received arthroscopic ankle arthrodesis. A cross-sectional pilot study was performed, in which patients who received arthroscopic ankle arthrodesis (n=8) were subjected to an exergaming protocol. Gait analysis was performed with a treadmill system. A healthy age-matched control group (n=10) was used as the control group. The patient group was capable of performing exergaming exercises and they showed no floor or ceiling effect. Only in case of the overall stability, the patient group performed significantly less better than the control group (P=.03). The N6-adenosine methyltransferase METTL16 promotes splicing of the MAT2A detained intron by an unknown mechanism. Using an unbiased CRISPR knock-out screen, we identified CFIm25 (NUDT21) as a regulator of MAT2A intron detention and intracellular SAM levels. CFIm25 is a component of the cleavage factor Im (CFIm) complex that regulates poly(A) site selection, but we show it promotes MAT2A splicing independent of poly(A) site selection. CFIm25-mediated MAT2A splicing induction requires the RS domains of its binding partners, CFIm68 and CFIm59 as well as binding sites in the detained intron and 3´ UTR. However, we are just beginning to understand how frequently new alleles arise controlling specialized metabolite diversity and how the geographic distribution of these alleles may be structured by ecological and demographic pressures. Here, we measure the variation in specialized metabolites across a population of 797 natural Arabidopsis thaliana accessions. We show that a combination of geography, environmental parameters, demography and different genetic processes all combine to influence the specific chemotypes and their distribution. This showed that causal loci in specialized metabolism contain frequent independently generated alleles with patterns suggesting potential within-species convergence. This provides a new perspective about the complexity of the selective forces and mechanisms that shape the generation and distribution of allelic variation that may influence local adaptation.
