We are reporting our series of patients operated on between 2000 and 2019 with the systematic administration of acyclovir (ACV). Four pediatric patients aged 4.5-12.8 years with drug-resistant epilepsy post-HSE underwent a tailored focal resection following invasive recordings (three patients) and a complete callosotomy (one patient). The total number of the surgical procedures for the four patients was eight, and a systematic administration of ACV as a prophylactic treatment of herpetic encephalitis relapse was done at each step. No patients had a relapse and the ACV was well-tolerated in all the cases. Following surgery two patients are seizure free, the patient who underwent callecordings are highly recommended. To control the spread of the African Swine Fever Virus (ASFV), a diagnostic method that can be applied rapidly and can detect the disease during the early stages of infection is urgently needed. In this study, we demonstrate a rapid and easy-to-use ASFV detection method that combines loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) and image processing with the hue-saturation-value (HSV) color model. This method was validated through use of synthetic ASFV DNA. The method shows high sensitivity, as it detects as few as 10 copies per reaction within 20min. The speed and sensitivity of this newly developed assay are superior to those reported in previous studies. In addition, through HSV color space transformation, the colorimetric result of this LAMP assay can be used for a semi-quantitative analysis for ASFV (ranging from 10 to 10 copies per reaction) and improve the discern to low concentration samples from a negative control. COVID-19 pneumonia PATIENTS AND METHODS For the purpose of identifying clinical manifestations and radiological findings of COVID-19 pneumonia, we reviewed all cases of COVID-19 pneumonia which were published by the homepage of the Japanese Association for Infectious Diseases from Feb 5 2020 until April 30 2020, including our cases. All patients were diagnosed based on positive results of the novel coronavirus-real-time RT-PCR with chest computed tomography (CT) findings. A total of 92 patients were enrolled in this study. To develop a technique to collect fluid expressed during robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP) to assess whether malignant cells may have been inadvertently introduced into the surgical field. Men with clinically localized grade group 2 to 5 prostate adenocarcinoma undergoing RARP were identified. Following bladder neck division, fluid expressed via prostatic urethra during seminal vesicle dissection was aspirated (specimen A). After specimen removal, an ex vivo seminal vesicle aspiration was performed as well (specimen B). Specimens were prepared with ThinPrep (Hologic, Marlborough, MA) and stained with 4 immunohistochemical markers keratin-7, PAX-8, prostate-specific antigen (PSA), and prostatic acid phosphatase (PACP). Between December 2018 and May 2019, 15 men undergoing RARP were included. Median age was 60 years (range 47-77), median PSA 8.5 ng/ml (range 5.1-24), and 7 (47%) had AUA high-risk disease. Specimen A had adequate cellularity in 13 patients (87%). Five patients were excluded from assessment of malignancy due to acellularity of specimen A (n = 2) or specimen B (n = 3).
