Hepatic TNF-α (tumor necrosis factor) level, mRNA and protein expression of RIPK1 (receptor-interacting protein kinase 1), RIPK3, and MLKL (mixed lineage kinase domain-like pseudokinase) were upregulated. Also, the phosphorylation of MLKL and RIPK3 increased in the VPA group. Tau could effectively reverse these events. Our data suggest which necroptosis has a key role in the toxicity of VPA through TNF-α-mediated RIPK1/RIPK3/MLKL signaling and oxidative stress. Our findings suggest that Tau protects the liver tissue against VPA toxicity via inhibiting necroptosis signaling pathway mediated by RIPK1/RIPK3/MLKL and suppressing oxidative stress, and apoptosis.Glioblastoma (GBM) is the most common, aggressive and malignant type of glioma, with poor prognosis, despite advances in medical knowledge and technology. It's known that some microRNAs (miRNAs) can be dysregulated and associated with tumors. We aim to investigate miRNAs that may have a role as potential biomarkers in human glioblastoma. Understanding the mechanisms in which those miRNAs are involved and their role in epigenetic pathways that lead to cancer, as well as their potential in clinical application, may improve GBM clinical outcome (CRD42020182706, 07/10/2020, retrospectively registered).Fluvastatin, a traditional fat-decreasing drug, is widely used for curing cardiovascular disease. Previous reports demonstrated that fluvastatin pretreatment protected against myocardial ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) by inhibiting TLR4 signaling pathway and/or reducing proinflammatory cytokines. However, whether fluvastatin has a cardioprotective effect against apoptosis and autophagy remains unknown. This study aims to evaluate whether the cardioprotective role of fluvastatin in I/R is mediated by high-mobility group box 1 (HMGB1)/toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) pathway via anti-apoptotic and anti-autophagic functions. Sprague-Dawley rats were anesthetized, artificially ventilated and subjected to 30 min of coronary occlusion, followed by 4 h of reperfusion. The animals were randomized into four groups (i) Sham operation; (ii) I/R; (iii) I/R + low-dosage fluvastatin (10 mg/kg); and (iv) I/R + high-dosage fluvastatin (20 mg/kg). After reperfusion, the hemodynamic parameters, myocardial infarct size, structural alteration of myocardium, apoptosis index, pro-inflammatory cytokine production, Beclin-1, Light chain 3 (LC3), HMGB1, TLR4 and Nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) protein levels were measured and recorded. It was found that fluvastatin preconditioning improved left ventricular dysfunction, reduced HMGB1/TLR4/NF-κB expressions, and inhibited cardiomyocyte apoptosis, autophagy, and inflammation reaction. Moreover, treatment with fluvastatin ameliorated myocardial injury by reducing infarct size, causing less damage to cardiac structure, downregulating autophagy-related protein expression and releasing pro-inflammation mediators. Our findings indicate that fluvastatin exerts beneficial effects on cardiac ischemic damage, which may be associated with its anti-autophagic and anti-apoptotic functions via inhibition of HMGB1/TLR4-related pathway during I/R injury.The aim of this study was to determine the effect of the compassion level of nurses on the frequency of their provision of spiritual care therapeutics to patients. The research was conducted as a correlational descriptive study and included 253 nurses working in a university hospital in Turkey between October and December 2020. The data were collected via an online survey using psychometrically valid scales to assess the nurses' compassion and provision of spiritual care therapeutics. The nurses had a high compassion level and a medium level of spiritual care therapeutics. Compassion level explained 31% of the frequency of spiritual care therapeutics. As nurses' compassion levels increased, the frequency of their provision of spiritual care therapeutics to patients also increased.Over the last 12-months during the pandemic caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have issued public health instructions with the hope of mitigating the spread of the virus. Through existing relationships established by an academic hospital, we established weekly community conference calls to disseminate such critical information on the pandemic and allow community leaders to discuss struggles and successes. From these calls, we were able to collaborate in a more intimate manner with faith-based organizations, whereby we emphasized and planned the role they could undertake during the pandemic. Such emphasis was made between our medical institution and various faith-based organizations through meetings titled "Congregational COVID-19 Conversations." Over the past 12-months, we held virtual meetings with 38 faith-based organizations 15 Christian congregations, 21 Jewish synagogues, and 2 Islamic masjids. We describe in detail in this report a narrative summary of the meetings. From these meetings, we discussed several COVID-19-related themes that included how to have their place of worship disseminate public health messaging, aid in preparing buildings for public worship, and insight into preparing their regions for aid in both COVID-19 testing and for potential SARS-CoV-2 vaccine sites. This medical-religious partnership has proven feasible and valuable during the pandemic and warrants emphasis in that it has the potential to serve a vital role in mitigating COVID-19-related disparities in certain communities, as well as potentially ending the COVID-19 pandemic completely.A luminescent Cobalt(II) co-crystal [Co13(PDC)16(H2O)24.7H2O] 1 (where H2PDC = 2,6-pyridinedicarboxylic acid) have been prepared by oven-heating and slow evaporation of solvent. Single crystal X-ray diffraction (SCXRD) analysis revealed that 1 is a mixture of complexes that crystallizes in the triclinic space group P-1 and the geometry around the Co(II) ions is octahedral. The structure is extensively imbued with hydrogen bonding that helps in stabilizing the complex. Thermogravimetric analysis indicates that 1 is thermally stable up to 364 οC. The luminescence properties of 1 revealed a strong emission centered at 437 nm (λex = 345 nm) assigned to ligand to metal charge transfer (LMCT). The luminescence sensing of 1 towards volatile organic molecules were also examined. However, 1 displayed a turn off towards methanol compared to other molecules with high quenching efficiency and low limit of detection (3.5 × 10-4 vol%). The results show excellent selectively and high sensitivity. Powder X-ray diffraction studies revealed that the structural integrity of the complex was maintained after exposure to methanol vapour.
