The current study aimed to deepen our knowledge on the role of cardiac 5-HT4 receptors under pathophysiological conditions. To this end, we used transgenic (TG) mice that overexpressed human 5-HT4a receptors solely in cardiac myocytes (5-HT4-TG mice) and their wild-type (WT) littermates that do not have functional cardiac 5-HT4 receptors as controls. We found that an inflammation induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) was detrimental to cardiac function in both 5-HT4-TG and WT mice. In a hypoxia model, isolated left atrial preparations from the 5-HT4-TG mice went into contracture faster during hypoxia and recovered slower following hypoxia than the WT mice. Similarly, using isolated perfused hearts, 5-HT4-TG mice hearts were more susceptible to ischemia compared to WT hearts. To study the influence of 5-HT4 receptors on cardiac hypertrophy, 5-HT4-TG mice were crossbred with TG mice overexpressing the catalytic subunit of PP2A in cardiac myocytes (PP2A-TG mice, a model for genetically induced hypertrophy). The cardiac contractility, determined by echocardiography, of the resulting double transgenic mice was attenuated like in the mono-transgenic PP2A-TG and, therefore, largely determined by the overexpression of PP2A. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/marimastat.html In summary, depending on the kind of stress put upon the animal or isolated tissue, 5-HT4 receptor overexpression could be either neutral (genetically induced hypertrophy, sepsis) or possibly detrimental (hypoxia, ischemia) for mechanical function. We suggest that depending on the underlying pathology, the activation or blockade of 5-HT4 receptors might offer novel drug therapy options in patients.Except for HPV-induced cancers of the oropharynx, survival rates in patients with squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck (HNSCC) have not changed substantially over the last decades. Salvage surgery plays an important role where primary treatment was unsuccessful since 50% of advanced-stage patients relapse after nonsurgical primary treatment. Depending on a variety of factors, a considerable number of patients in whom primary treatment was not successful can still be cured by salvage surgery. It is the goal of this review to elucidate these factors with the aim to counsel patients and their relatives realistically about the chances of being cured. The contemporary literature has largely addressed corporate social responsibility (CSR) at the macro or institutional level, whereas its effect at the micro-level is largely ignored. In addition, contemporary researchers have also ignored the importance of employee pro-environmental behavior to reduce the environmental footprint of small and medium enterprises (SMEs). With this background, the present study attempts to decrease the environmental footprint of the SME sector of China by implementing CSR at the micro-level through the involvement of employees because employees spend a significant amount of their time at workplaces, and hence their environment-related behavior may significantly contribute to improve the natural environment. In this regard, here we examined the impact of the micro-foundation of CSR on SMEs' environmental performance with mediating effect of employees' pro-environmental behavior. The data were collected from the different organizations in China. Our sample constitutes a supervisor-subordinate dyad from which we collected 562 filled questionnaires (281 from each). We used the structural equation modeling technique using AMOS software for data analysis, the results show that CSR, directly and indirectly, through employee's pro-environmental behavior affects the environmental performance of SMEs, and employee pro-environmental behavior partially mediates this relationship. The findings of the present study are helpful for policymakers of the SME sector of China to address widespread environmental issues caused by their business operations.Fused filament fabrication (FFF) is a process used to manufacture oral forms adapted to the needs of patients. Polyethylene oxide (PEO) filaments were produced by hot melt extrusion (HME) to obtain a filament suitable for the production of amiodarone hydrochloride oral forms by FFF 3D printing. In order to produce personalized oral forms adapted to the patient characteristics, filaments used by FFF must be controlled in terms of mass homogeneity along filament. This work highlights the relation between filament mass homogeneity and its diameter. This is why the impact of filler excipients physical properties was studied. It has been showed that the particle's size distribution of the filler can modify the filament diameter variability which has had an impact on the mass of oral forms produced by FFF. Through this work it was shown that D-Sorbitol from Carlo Erba allows to obtain a diameter variability of less than 2% due to its unique particle's size distribution. Using the filament produced by HME and an innovating calibration method based on the filament length, it has been possible to carry out three dosages of 125 mg, 750 mg and 1000 mg by 3D printing with acceptable mass uniformity.Acupuncture is believed to improve ovarian reserve and reproductive outcomes in women undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF). This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of network-optimized acupuncture followed by IVF on the oocyte yield in women showing a poor ovarian response. This study was an exploratory randomized controlled trial conducted from June 2017 to January 2020 at the Pusan National University Hospital. Women diagnosed with poor ovarian response were enrolled and randomly divided into two groups IVF alone and Ac + IVF groups (16 acupuncture sessions before IVF treatment). Eight acupoints with high degree centrality and betweenness centrality were selected using network analysis. Among the participants, compared with the IVF treatment alone, the acupuncture + IVF treatment significantly increased the number of retrieved mature oocytes in women aged more than 37 years and in those undergoing more than one controlled ovarian hyperstimulation cycle. The negative correlation between the number of retrieved mature oocytes and consecutive controlled ovarian hyperstimulation cycles was not observed in the Ac + IVF group irrespective of the maternal age. These findings suggest that physicians can consider acupuncture for the treatment of women with poor ovarian response and aged > 37 years or undergoing multiple IVF cycles.
