These lesions may be associated with invasive carcinoma, albeit limited in amount.Laryngeal chondrosarcoma is rare and accounts for 0.2% of all larynx malignancies. Although chondrosarcoma is the most common sarcoma seen in the larynx, laryngeal involvement by cartilage tumors is rare. In this article, we aimed to present the differential diagnosis of chondrosarcoma located in the thyroid cartilage, which is a rare site, in a 75-year-old male patient. The patient underwent total laryngectomy by the otolaryngology department. The macroscopy of the laryngectomy material sent to the pathology laboratory revealed a 3x2 cm tumor with a polypoid extension to the lumen from the bottom of the right vocal cord. Although clinical and radiological findings are important in the diagnosis, the definite diagnosis is based on the pathological examination. It is especially important to differentiate the lesion from chondromas. The etiology of ground glass-like inclusions is heterogenous and the pathology has been described in various conditions including HBV infection, Lafora's disease, fibrinogen storage disease, type IV glycogenosis, and alcohol reversion therapy. Similar ground glass-like inclusions are also associated with immunosuppressed conditions and multiple medications, for which the clinical significance is still unclear. Additional cases, some with previously unreported unique etiologies, and their follow-up were described in this study. Eleven cases were examined between 2008 and 2019 for this study. The clinical data and histologic slides were reviewed. All of the cases were negative for Hepatitis B virus. None of the patients declared alcohol intake or a history of epilepsy. Liver histology showed mild lobular inflammation in most of the cases (72%). Ground glass-like hepatocytes were distributed in the patchy-panlobular, periportal, and centrizonal pattern at 55%, 27%, and 18%, respectively. Clinical history revated transaminases. Atypical teratoid rhabdoid tumor (ATRT) is a rare, often lethal brain tumor of childhood characterized by a complex epigenetic landscape amongst a simple genetic background. Recent molecular studies have defined key biologic events that contribute to tumorigenesis and molecular subtypes of ATRT. Seminal studies on ATRT are reviewed with an emphasis on molecular pathogenesis and its relevance to novel therapeutics. In this review, we summarize the key clinicopathologic and molecular features of ATRT, completed and ongoing clinical trials and outline the translational potential of novel insights into the molecular pathogenesis of this tumor. Two finite-state grammars were implemented with the same tone set (leading to short melodies) and played by the same timbre in exposure and test phases. The grammars were presented in separate exposure phases, and potentially acquired knowledge was tested with two experimental tasks a grammar categorization task (Experiment 1) and a grammatical error detection task (Experiment 2). Results showed that participants were able to categorize new items as belonging to one or the other grammar (Experiment 1) and detect grammatical errors in new sequences of each grammar (Experiment 2). Our findings suggest the capacity of intra-modal learning of regularities in the auditory modality and based on stimuli that share the same perceptual properties.Literature in developmental psychology pays special attention to the difficulties met by preschool children when confronted with (universal vs. existential) quantified sentences. According to the pivotal Piagetian view, the difficulties exhibited in quantifier comprehension during the preoperational period (age 2-6) derive from the same limitations in logical reasoning that cause bad performance outcomes in class inclusion problems. Nevertheless, as far as we know, a direct comparison between the two tasks has never been produced. In this research we tested the logical hypotheses concerning the failure in quantifier comprehension of preschool children by administering a sentence-picture matching task to two groups of children (5-6 vs. 7-8 years old). Pictures, obtained by partially pairing two entity sets, one of which outnumbers the other, were presented to participants. After each picture, children were asked to answer questions involving quantified versus class inclusion contents. Main findings showed that younger children performed the quantifier task worse than older children and their performance in that task was also worse with respect to the class inclusion task. This difference was not observed with older children who obtained better results than younger children in both tasks. These findings suggest that the specific abilities involved in solving the two problems evolve independently from each other during cognitive development. The results have been discussed in the light of the recent developmental theories.In the present study, we investigated whether structured quantities like finger or dice patterns are enumerated better than unstructured quantities because they may not require counting. Moreover, we hypothesized children's mastery of structured quantities to predict their later arithmetic performance longitudinally. In particular, we expected that children more proficient in enumerating structured quantities early in their numerical development, should develop more effective calculation strategies later because they may rely on counting less. Therefore, we conducted a longitudinal study (including 116 children, 58 girls) over the course of about 7 months from preschool (at about 6 years of age) to the middle of first grade.
