Members of the mitochondrial carrier family (SLC25) transport a variety of compounds across the inner membrane of mitochondria. These transport steps provide building blocks for the cell and link the pathways of the mitochondrial matrix and cytosol. An increasing number of diseases and pathologies has been associated with their dysfunction. In this review, the molecular basis of these diseases is explained based on our current understanding of their transport mechanism.The peripheral nervous system (PNS) plays crucial roles in physiology and disease. Neuro-effector communication and neuroplasticity of the PNS are poorly studied, since suitable models are lacking. Paraoxonase-I (PON1) is a member of the mammalian lactonase enzyme family, serves to the prevention of blood vessel plaque formation by protecting high-density lipoprotein and low-density lipoprotein against oxidation. In the current study, we aimed to contribute to drug discovery and to determine the interaction of some calcium channel blockers (CCBs) with PON1. For this purpose, first, the PON1 enzyme was purified from fresh human serum by using different chromatographic techniques. Then, the various concentrations of CCBs were tested on the paraoxonase activity of PON1. IC50 values were found as 41.00, 48.00, and 180 µM for nimodipine, cinnarizine, and nilvadipine, respectively. PON1 was effectively inhibited by these drugs (Kis ranging between 22.13 ± 1.13 and 174.12 ± 20.52 µM). Of these drugs, only the inhibition mechanism of cinnarizine was competitive on PON1. Besides, the molecular docking analysis of cinnarizine was applied to detailed the binding interactions on the active site of PON1. The docking scores for the Glide standard-precision (SP), and Glide extra-precision (XP) modes for 1V04 receptor monitored to be -5.001, and -6.079, respectively. We determined that the CCBs reduced PON1 enzyme activity both in vitro and in silico conditions, significantly. These findings suggest that there is a relationship between marital status and different OCD phenotypes.This study aimed at examining the factors that contribute to nursing productivity in public hospitals in Surabaya. Data relating to the respondents' characteristics and their productivity were collected using a questionnaire incorporating the Behaviorally Anchored Rating Scale. The samples were drawn from 31 nurses form the emergency room (ER) and 29 nurses from the intensive care unit (ICU) wards of a public hospital in Surabaya, Indonesia, of whom, 52 nurses participated voluntarily and indicated their willingness to respond by signing an informed consent form. The chi-square and Fisher's exact test was used to determine associations between the determinants (demographic characteristics, lifestyle and nutritional status) and productivity and the strength of association was identified by using logistic regression. The results from this study found that gender had borderline significant and duration of work experience had a significant association with nurse productivity. Therefore, gender and duration of working experience are factors which should be taken into consideration when managing human resources working in ERs and ICUs while basic nursing competencies are clearly also important factors in maintaining productivity. Stroke survivors have exercise intolerance that contributes to reduced quality of life and survival. While exaggerated blood pressure responses during exercise have been documented in other chronic diseases, whether stroke patients have abnormal hemodynamic responses during aerobic exercise remains unexplored. This cross-sectional study aimed to examine whether stroke survivors have exaggerated increases in blood pressure during maximal treadmill exercise and whether these responses may be related to systemic inflammation. Forty-six participants (25 stroke survivors, STROKE, and 21 controls, CON) performed a maximal treadmill exercise test via the modified Naughton protocol while blood pressure was measured manually during each treadmill stage. A linear mixed model was used to compare the slope of rise in heart rate and blood pressure within and between groups. Spearmans rho analysis was performed to explore the relationship between these responses and circulating concentrations of inflammatory biomarkers.
