Pre-clinical and human neuroimaging research implicates the extended-amygdala (ExtA) (including the bed nucleus of the stria terminalis [BST] and central nucleus of the amygdala [CeA]) in networks mediating negative emotional states associated with stress and substance-use behaviours. The extent to which individual ExtA structures form a functionally integrated unit is controversial. We utilised a large sample (n > 1,000 healthy young adult humans) to compare the intrinsic functional connectivity networks (ICNs) of the BST and CeA using task-free functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) data from the Human Connectome Project. We assessed whether inter-individual differences within these ICNs were related to two principal components representing negative disposition and alcohol use. Building on recent primate evidence, we tested whether within BST-CeA intrinsic functional connectivity (iFC) was heritable and further examined co-heritability with our principal components. We demonstrate the BST and CeA to have discrete, but largely overlapping ICNs similar to previous findings. We found no evidence that within BST-CeA iFC was heritable; however, post hoc analyses found significant BST iFC heritability with the broader superficial and centromedial amygdala regions. There were no significant correlations or co-heritability associations with our principal components either across the ICNs or for specific BST-Amygdala iFC. Possible differences in phenotype associations across task-free, task-based, and clinical fMRI are discussed, along with suggestions for more causal investigative paradigms that make use of the now well-established ExtA ICNs.As an emerging class of inorganic metal oxides, organically functionalized polyoxometalates (POMs) or POM-based nanohybrids have been demonstrated promising potential for the inhibition of various cancer types by the virtue of their diversity in structures and significantly reduced toxicity. This contribution summarizes the latest achievement of POM-based nanomaterials in cancer diagnosis and various therapeutics to put forward our fundamental viewpoints on the design principles of modified POMs based on their application. In addition, major challenges and perspectives in this field are also discussed. We expect that this review will provide a valuable and systematic reference for the further development of POM-based nanomaterials.The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of different concentrations of NaOCl with and without passive ultrasonic irrigation (PUI) on mechanical properties of human dentin for applications in regenerative endodontics (RE). Sixty single-rooted teeth were sectioned into 2 halves (n = 120). Dentin bars were produced from one half for flexural strength and the other half was used for microhardness. Specimens were randomly assigned into 10 groups G1 and G2 (control) distilled water for 30 and 60 min, respectively; G3 1.5%NaOCl for 30 min; G41.5%NaOCl for 60 min; G5 1.5%NaOCl + PUI for 30 min; G6 1.5%NaOCl + PUI for 60 min; G7 5.25%NaOCl for 30 min; G8 5.25%NaOCl for 60 min; G9 5.25%NaOCl + PUI for 30 min; G10 5.25%NaOCl + PUI for 60 min. An increase in NaOCl concentration showed highly significant reduction in mechanical properties. There was no significant difference between 1.5% NaOCl and control group except for specimens treated with PUI for 60 min. NaOCl in concentrations recommended for RE did not have a significant effect on mechanical properties of dentin. However, PUI with increased irrigation time might have an effect even with low NaOCl concentration. This study aimed to investigate single-nucleotide variants (SNVs) associated with P1 expression among Thai blood donors and develop a genotyping method using multiplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR) to predict P1 blood group status. The α1,4-galactosyltransferase (A4GALT), also called Gb3/CD77 synthase or P1/P synthase enzyme, is encoded by the A4GALT gene and catalyses the transfer of galactose from uridine diphosphate-galactose to lactosylceramide, creating the P antigen (Gb3). The same enzyme synthesises the P1 antigen by adding terminal galactose to paragloboside. The A4GALT transcripts are elevated in P , and different SNVs in transcription factor-binding regions of A4GALT correlate with P and P phenotypes. A total of 218 blood samples from Thai blood donors at the Thammasat University Hospital were tested for the P1 antigen using the conventional tube technique. Genomic DNA was extracted, and non-coding regions of A4GALT were sequenced and analysed. A multiplex PCR assay was developed ale, cost-effective and less time-consuming alternative to traditional methods. The Haemophilia Activities List (HAL) is a preferred instrument to measure self-reported limitations in activities in persons with haemophilia (PWH). Information on reliability and interpretability of HAL scores is lacking. To examine the test-retest reliability and smallest detectable change (SDC) of the HAL in adult PWH. Fifty adult (≥18years) persons with mild to severe haemophilia completed the HAL (42 items, 7 domains, optimum 100) at baseline (T0) and 3-4weeks later (T1). The intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) and SDC were calculated for sum and component scores. Fifty persons with haemophilia were included (median age 49years; 92% haemophilia A; 70% severe haemophilia). The median (interquartile ranges) HAL sum score was 77 (62 to 99) at T0 and 81 (64 to 98) at T1. Reliability was good with ICCs for sum and component scores >0.9. The SDC for the sum score was 10.2, for the upper extremity component score 9.2, for the basic lower extremity component score 16.7 and for the complex lower extremity component score 13.4.
